The Eisenhauer Gallery is proud to announce a new edition to our vast art collection! Artist Debbie Miller comes to Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard with over 25 years of experience as a professional artist, offering a fascinating perspective on the human form and how language is conveyed through non-verbal positions. The paintings she offers The Eisenhauer focus on children competing on a swim team, but actually reflect many of the feelings most of us felt when pressured to perform well at a young age. Paintings such as "The Competition" evoke emotion from the viewer, as they are able to connect with the main figure and remember how it feels to be on both sides of the spectrum when facing a challenge. In this painting, the viewer sees two children in the background who could be sizing up their competition with harsh words, just as easily as they could be whispering their concerns and fears over how talented the figure in black is.

As a Rhode Island native, Miller's series with The Eisenhauer Gallery speaks to two of her passions in life; water and swimming. For the viewer, her paintings illustrate personal stories from Miller's childhood but are still distant enough for the viewer to process and experience the connection in a unique way. We are proud to welcome her to Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard and our family and look forward to introducing you to her work!
